Building a Fort at Grandma's

Briggs had so much fun doing this!  Every boy needs a fort.  We are so lucky to have so much space to roam and play up at Grandma's house.  The night before, he asked me to tell him stories about when I was young.  I told him about the ranch, and how my cousins and I played almost every day.  We would run wherever we wanted to go, played in the tree house, sledded on the toboggan behind the truck, made mud pies, rode horses, explored, hiked, ran through the sprinklers...his eyes were soooo wide.  He was really excited to hear that I lived right next to my cousins!  He said, "no fair!  I want to live by Dax!"  So, before we built a fort, Briggs said, "Mom, I want to just explore, like you did with your cousins."  Off he went, to figure out what to do.

Nobody can understand just how charmed my childhood was, unless you were there.  We didn't have all of the fancy toys.  We rarely watched TV.  Seriously!?  I know.  What a different world it is today.  Our kids love to be outside, because we're such a culture of indoor stuff...video games, TV, movies, tons of toys, food, candy...etc.  I often wish I could raise my kids the same way I was raised.  However, I'll gladly settle on going to Grandma's any chance we get!
